Mother gives up plane seat for veteran,

When this young mother gave an old veteran her plane seat, she thought she was being kind. He switched seats and she joined the row behind him. After accidentally discovering his identity, she paled instantly.

Emma Bright and her daughter Rosey had been on the plane for almost an hour. Unknown reasons kept the plane on the turf, which annoyed Emma.

Emma said softly, “We’ll be glued to the ground longer than the actual flight. But then an old man intervened.

Emma’s irritated face softened immediately. The pilots were probably waiting for this old man, she thought. He moved slowly and looked old.

Emma did something beyond friendly after the old man stopped talking.

No row of passengers was in front of her and her daughter in the front row of the plane. It was nice having legroom for days.

But she thought the old man needed it more. Emma took her baby girl and offered to trade places.

Emma persisted despite the veteran’s shock and reluctance. She stood at his row, urging him to settle in her old spot.

Emma replied that she didn’t need the veteran’s thanks. Not realising her greatest gift was coming.

Emma read the man’s hat lettering while switching places. According to the inscription, he was a hero who fought in two wars. Emma thanked the old veteran for his service to the nation before sitting behind him.

A sound came from the aeroplane seat in front of Emma as she looked out her new seat window. I heard pages turning. The pages sounded heavy for a book.

Emma peeked through the backrest because she was curious.

Emma noticed the old man browsing a large photo album. Book pages were yellowed, indicating at least two decades of age.

The images on those pages were stunning. Emma saw many black-and-white field photos of soldiers.

The young mother concluded they were his wartime comrades. Emma felt warm and compassionate. When she heard the veteran cry during his check-in, it stopped.

The man checked his health and continued looking. He stopped at a specific page. Emma paled instantly after this decision. The curious mother secretly watched and admired the man’s album.

Emma gasped for air in shock and covered her mouth to avoid more noises. The young mother walked to the veteran’s row because she was too restless in her new chair.
