Game Pass's price hike conceals another motive.

The price of Game Pass is going up, and the industry is shaking its head in an attempt to determine whether or not this is a warning that ought to be taken seriously.

Existing subscribers will be subject to this price change beginning in September, while new subscribers will be able to take advantage of it beginning on July 9.

It has been decided to discontinue Xbox Game Pass for Console, which was a more affordable option to Game Pass Ultimate that did not include titles from EA Play or computers. The Game Pass Standard plan, which costs $14.99 a month in the United States, will take the place of that plan for new users. Only if they have auto-renewal enabled, Xbox Game Pass for Console subscribers are able to continue using the service without incurring any additional costs.

There will be new games available on day one, but this new Game Pass Standard does not contain them. These games will be available a few months later. Today, the PC and Ultimate plans are the only ones that can access Day one.
According to information provided by Windows Central, the price of Game Pass for personal computers has increased from 9.99 euros to 11.99 euros, and users will continue to receive games on day one. A new service called Game Pass Core has also been developed. It features a far smaller collection of games, does not require a monthly subscription (at least, an additional payment option beyond the annual one has not been revealed), and is primarily geared for individuals who are solely interested in playing video games online.

A form of “two-speed Game Pass” will be created as a result of the decision to eliminate day-one releases, which will henceforth be available only through Game Pass Ultimate and on personal computers. This is without a doubt the most momentous modification.

A setback for the wider appeal of Game Pass products.
