The peculiar thing is not that a sequel to The Office, a hugely popular NBC sitcom created by Greg Daniels that made television comedy distinctive with its awkward but amiable humour and legendary characters such as the insufferable Michael Scott, who launched Steve Carell to stardom, is currently in the process of being developed. What is truly peculiar is the fact that, despite the fact that it has been so successful, it has not been produced until now.

A contemporary classic. In 2005, the American adaptation of “The Office” began airing on television. It was based on a much more modest BBC series of the same name and was co-created by Ricky Gervais. The American version of “The Office” ran for nine seasons, with the last two seasons being helmed by Steve Carell. Not only did it achieve a significant amount of success (5.7 million people watched its conclusion, to which Carell returned for an emotional reunion), but it has also become a highly prized asset in the world of syndication.

You are the winner if you have ‘The Office’. Despite the fact that Universal owns NBC, the series has been distributed across virtually all streaming platforms. A number of streaming services, including Prime Video, Netflix, Movistar Plus+, and SkyShowtime, are currently offering it to viewers in Spain.

The upcoming installment of ‘The Office’ will not be a reboot or a direct sequel that follows the same characters. Instead, it will be a series that maintains the spirit of the two original ‘The Office’ series.

Possibly the crew of the documentary. It is possible that it will take place in a different office with different characters, but it will take place in the same universe as the first season of The Office.

On the other hand, that is not the only likelihood. As an illustration, the sources that Deadline cites suggest that one approach that could be taken would be to follow the documentary crew that was supposedly filming the original version of The Office but is now working on a different project.

There will be no return of the cast. Another possibility that Daniels has already stated he does not intend to pursue is returning to the same characters, not even with different actors. He has stated that he does not want to pursue this option.

It goes without saying that he is not opposed to the possibility of members of the original cast appearing in this new iteration of “The Office.” However, according to a number of sources, it is extremely unlikely that all of the actors from the American series will get back together to perform in the same show.
